One-off evidence session: 9 July 2013

Call for evidence

The Education Committee is today announcing an inquiry into School Direct recruitment for 2013/14.  There will be one oral evidence session on 9 July 2013, hearing from Charlie Taylor, Chief Executive of the National College of Teaching and Leadership.  Further details will be announced nearer the time.

Brief written comments are invited on the administration of the application process for School Direct teacher training places to start in the academic year 2013/14.  In view of the short timescale and the narrow focus of this inquiry, submissions should be made by midday on Monday 1 July 2013.

Please note: The Committee has previously announced an inquiry to follow up its 2012 report on Great Teachers: Attracting, training and retaining the best, focusing on the School Direct programme more generally and on the proposals for a College of Teaching.  The evidence session on School Direct and related issues based on submissions to that inquiry is planned for the autumn.
