MPs to question the new Chief Fire and Rescue Officer

The Communities and Local Government Committee is to take evidence from the new Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, Peter Holland CBE, and the Fire Minister, Brandon Lewis MP. The session will take place after Easter.

The Committee will question Mr Holland about his new responsibilities and how he intends to perform them. The Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser provides professional advice and support to senior officials and ministers on a range of matters including fire policy, national resilience, fire safety, and the inspection of Crown premises. He will also provide advice and support to the Government in the event of any national emergencies. Questions to the Minister will be on his responsibilities in respect of fire policy and services.

The Committee welcomes submissions containing questions and matters that could be put to the Minister and Mr Holland. Submissions should be no longer than 1,500 and submitted by 1pm on 19 April 2013.
