The Communities and Local Government Committee takes evidence on the private rented sector and examines the codification of the relationship between central and local government.

The session is the fourth evidence session of the inquiry examining private rented sector housing, particularly the quality of housing in the sector, rent levels, tenure and the regulation of landlords, letting agents and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). This session will focus on the role of local authorities in the private rented sector.

The Committee takes evidence from Graham Allen MP, Chair of the Political and Constitutional Reform Committee, which has produced a report in January 'Prospects for codifying the relationship between central and local government' and an illustrative draft code for central and local government.
