On Thursday 9 May 2013, the International Development Committee will hold its third evidence session with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development to continue the inquiry on Violence against women and girls.

Purpose of the Session

The first panel offers the opportunity to discuss to discuss the FCO’s role in UK Government efforts to tackle VAWG. Issues for discussion include the FCO-led Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative, and the effectiveness of cross-government coordination on VAWG.

The second panel is a chance to explore DFID’s current and planned policy and programme work on VAWG as well as to discuss Lynne Featherstone’s work as the UK’s Ministerial Champion for Tackling Violence Against Women Overseas.
