Treasury questioned on arranging currency in a separate Scotland

The Scottish Affairs Committee hears from the Chief Secretary to the Treasury and the Secretary of State for Scotland on Wednesday 15 May 2013.

On Tuesday 23 April, the UK Government published its second paper in its Scotland analysis programme, Scotland analysis: Currency and monetary policy. This paper reviews how the current UK arrangements work and examines the options for change.

The Scottish Affairs Committee will question the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on how Scotland would establish its own macroeconomic and institutional framework as part of forming a new state, in the event of Separation.
