Evidence on Future of Civil Service and Procurement

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) will be taking evidence from the Rt Hon Francis Maude MP, Minister for the Cabinet Office, in the final session of the Committee’s two inquiries into Procurement and the Future of the Civil Service.

PASC will first question the Minister on the evidence heard as part of the Procurement inquiry, including:
- centralising procurement;
- the remit of the Cabinet Office and individual departments on procurement; and
- barriers to increasing procurement from small and medium enterprises and the voluntary sector.
In the second half of the session, PASC will ask questions about the challenges facing the Civil Service, including;
- ministerial concerns about competence in Whitehall;
- the relationship between the Cabinet Office and the rest of Whitehall; and
- the accountability of senior civil servants.
