Committee to hold first evidence session on Better roads

This is the first oral evidence session for an inquiry that examines whether the policies set out by the Government in its Action for Roads command paper and recent spending decisions will make travel on England's strategic road network better for the public in future.

Background
Ahead of this session the Transport Committee has commissioned a brief report from the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) that examines the arguments for and against 'peak car' (the idea that car use has peaked in the UK and other developed countries versus whether or not traffic, especially car use, will continue to grow indefinitely into the future).
