Chair's comments

Committee Chairman Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP said:

“I am pleased that Sir Charles Montgomery has agreed to give evidence, as part of our continuing scrutiny of the management of the UK border.

As the fifth head of the Border Force in just 18 months, Sir Charles has the unenviable task of securing our borders. We look forward to hearing his plans for the future and how he intends to improve the security of the UK border.

We will ask him about a number of topics including the so-called Lille loophole, the volume of drug and illicit tobacco seizures and how he intends to balance the importance of customs and immigration work across the organisation.”
