The Work and Pensions Select Committee will hold the fourth of six planned oral evidence sessions on Wednesday 16 October for its inquiry into the role of Jobcentre Plus (JCP) in the reformed welfare system

The session will consider plans to support Universal Credit claimants through the Local Support Services Framework. It will examine JCP’s approach to wider welfare reforms, including: the Benefit Cap; tougher benefit conditionality rules; and localisation of elements of the discretionary Social Fund. The session will also consider opportunities for, and barriers preventing, close joint working in employment services between JCP, local authorities and other local stakeholders.

The Committee issued terms of reference for this inquiry on 19 April.
