The UK Government has issued a series of Scotland Analysis papers, which seek to set out as much information as possible for voters who will have to decide in September 2014 whether Scotland should become a separate country.
These papers are sponsored by a number of different Government departments, and the Scottish Affairs Committee has undertaken to take evidence on each of them.
In September, the Treasury produced the fifth paper in the series, on Macroeconomic and fiscal performance, setting out the role of economic and fiscal integration in shaping Scotland’s economic performance as part of the UK. It describes some of the potential economic and fiscal consequences of independence.
