Lords to hear from Harriet Harman MP on media plurality

On Tuesday 15 October, the House of Lords Communications Committee will take evidence from Rt Hon Harriet Harman MP and Helen Goodman MP as well as from Professor Martin Cave OBE.

Witnesses

At 3.30 pm

  • Professor Martin Cave OBE, Imperial College

The Committee will explore the demarcation lines between competition and plurality policy with competition expert Professor Cave.

At 4.30 pm

  • Rt Hon Harriet Harman, QC MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (also Shadow Deputy Prime Minister); and
  • Ms Helen Goodman MP, Shadow Minister for Culture, Media and Sport, with specific responsibility for media reform

Rt Hon Harriet Harman has set out a position on media plurality to the Leveson Inquiry, at the Charles Wheeler lecture earlier this year, and to the press. The Committee will put questions on these proposals both to her and Helen Goodman.

The evidence sessions will take place on Tuesday 15 October from 3.30 pm in Committee Room 2 of the House of Lords.
