Pre-appointment hearing for Chair of the Food Standards Agency

The Committee announced on 18 July that it would be holding a pre-appointment hearing for the Government’s preferred candidate for the post of Chair of the Food Standards Agency on Tuesday 10 September.

The Secretary of State has now written to the Chair of the Committee to say that, given the need to consult the devolved administrations about the appointment, he is not yet in a position to tell the Committee who is the preferred candidate, and so the meeting scheduled for 10 September will not now take place.

No alternative date for the hearing has yet been fixed. The Committee will make a further announcement as soon as it is able to do so.
