Committee visit Gloucester for inquiry into UK retail sector

The Business, Innovation and Skills Committee will be visiting Gloucester on 11 and 12 September in connection to the inquiry into the UK Retail Sector. The Committee will be holding an evidence session at the Guildhall in Gloucester on the morning of Thursday 12 September. The session is open to the public and media

As part of the visit, the Committee will also be meeting with the GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership, as well as speaking to representatives of Gloucester’s retail community.

Representatives from three members of the Independent Retailers Confederation:

  • Mark Walmsley, Chief Executive, Act Smart;
  • Ken Parsons, Chief Executive, Rural Shops Alliance;
  • Meryl Halls, Head of Membership Services, Booksellers Association

At 11.30 am:

  • Jane Rexworthy, Director of Skills Solutions and Head of National Skills Academy for Retail, National Skills Academy
  • Martin Christian, Kent Research and Policy Director, People 1st, National Skills Academy

At 12.15 pm:

  • Mike Davidson, Head of Retail Operations, Land Securities
  • Peter White, Executive Director, Marketing and Customer Services, Gloucestershire College

The session will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats.
