The Speaker has today announced that he has received notification from Rt Hon James Arbuthnot MP of his wish to resign as Chair of the Defence Select Committee
There will now follow an election process for the nomination of a new Chair.
The Speaker has announced that the ballot will take place between 11am and 1pm on Wednesday 14 May 2014. Valid nominations received each day will be printed in the House’s business papers. As soon as possible after the close of nominations on 13 May, if there is more than one candidate, the list of candidates and their sponsors will be made available.
