Lords question Minister on plans to regulate civil drone use

On Monday 1 December, the Lords EU Sub-Committee on the Internal Market, Infrastructure and Employment will be taking evidence from the Government in the final evidence session of its inquiry into the civil use of drones, or "Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems" (RPAS), in the EU.

Possible questions
Over the course of the evidence session the Committee will ask:
- Whether the Government plans to consult the public on drone use and guidelines?
- Will the Government distinguish between commercial users and 'hobby' users?
- Should drones be regulated according to their size or their potential risk to the public?
- Is the current law around misuse of drones working properly?
- Does the Government plan to employ drones to assist with law enforcement?
- How does the Government monitor its own contractors' use of drones?
- Should regulation around privacy and data protection stay within the jurisdiction of each Member State, or is legislation at EU level required in order to open up the Single Market?
