Presumption of innocence

Following a debate on the floor of the House of Commons on Monday, 10 February, the Clerk of the House forwarded a reasoned opinion on the draft Directive on the strengthening of certain aspects of the presumption of innocence and of the right to be present at trail in criminal proceedings to the Presidents of the European Union Institutions: the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Animal Cloning

The draft Council Directive on the placing on the market of food from animal clones was debated in European Committee A on Tuesday, 11 February.  The motion to approve a reasoned opinion was agreed to by the Committee.  It was then agreed by the House of Commons on Wednesday 12 February and sent to the Presidents of the European Union Institutions.
