Committee take evidence in Sheffield on public service reform

The session will be held in the Select Committee Suite at the Interdisciplinary Centre of the Social Sciences and will give the Committee the chance to hear first-hand about experiences of the commissioning and delivery of public service in Sheffield.

In July 2013 the city was chosen as part of the Government’s Public Services Transformation Network with the aim of developing public services designed to “focus on people’s issues rather than public structures”.

The evidence session will be the third session of the Committee’s Citizens and Public Services Inquiry which aims to scrutinize the Government’s plans for public service reform and consider the wider public service reform agenda.

Issues to be explored

• The opportunities for local communities to get involved in public service design and delivery;
• the extent to which the Government has successfully devolved power away from Whitehall and into local communities; and
• what the Public Service Transformation Network has meant for public services in Sheffield.
