About the session

Commenting on the session, Transport Committee Chair Louise Ellman MP said today:

“When the Transport Committee scrutinised UK Aviation Strategy last year, we concluded that there is no practical alternative to expanding Heathrow.

Last month, the Airports Commission released its Interim Report on developing UK airport capacity. Its shortlisted options for change included not only expanding Heathrow but building a further runway at Gatwick. It also left the door open on building a new airport in the Thames Estuary, an option which we rejected given the available evidence. We look forward to discussing the thinking behind the Airports Commission’s report with its Chair, Sir Howard Davies.”
