Government announcement on Superfast Broadband in Wales welcome

Following the recent announcement that more than 100,000 Welsh homes and businesses have access to superfast broadband speeds, the Chair of the Welsh Affairs Committee, David TC Davies MP, commented:
“I welcome the important milestone that has been met in increasing access to superfast broadband in Wales. As we found in our inquiry during 2012, access to fast internet connection is essential to businesses and the economy of Wales. Broadband is an important generator of economic success and a means of addressing social exclusion. However, we must remember that there are still some areas of Wales where people have no connection at all. The roll-out of higher profile superfast broadband must not detract from the highest priority, namely that everyone has a good, useable connection.”
