Lords committee to discuss future EU plans for Home Affairs and Justice

The House of Lords Home Affairs, Health and Education EU Sub-Committee will hold several evidence sessions in Brussels this week, as part of its ongoing inquiry into future plans for the EU’s justice and home affairs programme.

Witnesses
In order to gather evidence from as many relevant people as possible, the Committee will spend two days talking to officials, academics and various think tanks based in Brussels.
The Committee will be hearing from the Director General Manservisi, Directorate General Home Affairs and Director General Le Bail, Directorate General Justice. Evidence will also be taken from several MEPs, including:
- Juan Fernando López Aguilar MEP, Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) Committee Chair
- Claude Moraes MEP
- Sajjad Karim MEP
- Judith Sargentini MEP, member of the LIBE Committee
- Morten Messerschmidt MEP, substitute member of the JURI Commmittee
Likely discussion topics
The Committee will raise issues with the witnesses such as what has been learnt from the current Stockholm Programme, how those lessons can be carried forwards and current thinking on what the strategic priorities of the new programme will be.
