Public Service Reform

The Public Administration Select Committee (PASC) will take evidence on public service reform from think tanks and other key parties in an evidence session on Tuesday 14 January.
The Committee will hear from the think tanks Reform and the RSA; the Transition Institute (which supports public sector spin-out organizations); the consumer association Which?; the Local Government Association; the Office of Fair Trading and John Tizard, an independent strategic advisor and commentator.

The evidence session will be the first session of the Committee’s Citizens and Public Services Inquiry which aims to scrutinize the Government’s plans for public service reform and consider the wider public service reform agenda.
Particular issues to be explored may include
• The opportunities for local communities to get involved in public service design and delivery;
• whether the Government has successfully devolved power away from Whitehall and into local communities; and
• how businesses and charities delivering public services can be held to account.
