The Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art publishes its Annual Financial Report 2013-14.

The Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art is committed to developing the Parliamentary Art collection by acquiring works that depict issues and individuals of particular historical significance to Parliament. In 2013-14, the Committee acquired a number of artworks, including a portrait of Nicholas Hardinge, the seventh Clerk of the House of Commons, a photograph of Labour women taken by Lord Snowden in 1964 of 12 significant female parliamentarians, the WW1 cartoon 'If Parliament were called up' by Sir Bernard Partridge and a portrait study of Winston Churchill by Bernard Hailstone.

The Parliamentary Art Collection is a unique and valuable national collection which documents and illustrates the history of Parliament over the centuries. It also explains the function and activities of Parliament today. The Committee is keen that the Collection is made accessible to the public, through exhibitions and loans, often with partner organisations, but also through a range of interpretative material posted on the website, including virtual tours. The acquisitions made in 2013-14 will be made available to the public online, and used in the commemorations of upcoming parliamentary anniversaries.
