House of Commons Commission decisions – 14 July 2014

1. Education Centre: Content

The Commission noted with approval that construction of the Education Centre was due to commence in August, and was updated on progress with developing the services to be delivered through it.

2. Security: SARP update

The Commission was briefed by the Parliamentary Security Director on progress with the Security Arrangements Renewal Programme.

3. Security: 2013-14 review of Parliamentary security and strategic plan 2014-19

The Commission noted the Review and Plan and endorsed the strategic aim and guiding principles set out in Part 2 of the 2014–19 Strategic Plan for Parliamentary Security.

4. Senior staff pay

The Commission agreed a pay award for staff in the Senior Commons Structure for the three years 2013–2015.

5. Northern Estate refurbishment

The Commission agreed in principle to proceed with Northern Estate refurbishment; agreed to the acquisition of the necessary additional decant accommodation; and sanctioned expenditure on the detailed planning required.

6. Intelligence and security committee of Parliament

The Commission agreed to proceed with the transfer to Parliament of the resourcing of the ISC.

The Committee agreed that the Chair of ISC should be paid via the Members Estimate at the same rate as Select Committee chairs with an offsetting transfer from the budget of the ISC at the date of transfer.

7. Commission Annual Report

The Commission agreed its annual report for 2013/14.
