Members of the Digital Skills Committee have attended a special event promoting computing coding to young girls.

The Girls Get Coding event saw more than 100 school children from across the UK visit Parliament to show off their computer skills to Peers and MPs.

The event was attended by Lord Aberdare, Baroness Garden of Frognal, Lord Kirkwood of Kirkhope and Baroness Morgan of Huyton.

The Committee are considering information and communications technology, competitiveness and skills in the UK. It has decided to set its inquiry within the policy framework of a rapidly changing technological landscape and to examine what this means for the labour market. The Committee published its call for evidence on 11 July 2014 and the deadline for written submissions is 5 September 2014.
