Purpose of the session

This is the first evidence session in the Transport Committee’s Investing in the railway inquiry, which aims to scrutinise the impact and deliverability of Network Rail’s £38 billion investment programme over the next five years (Control Period 5) and to identify priorities for investment after 2019. Likely topics for discussion include the extent to which the investment in Control Period 5 will reduce bottlenecks in the network, improve resilience and meet demands for greater capacity.
