The House of Lords Committee charged with scrutinising the Mental Capacity Act 2005 will publish its report on Thursday 13 March.

The Committee investigated how the Act is working in practice. Has it made a difference to the lives of vulnerable adults? Has it delivered on the promise of greater empowerment for those with learning disabilities, dementia and brain injury?

The Committee’s report is expected to make recommendations to Government about the implementation of the empowering ethos of the Act, the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, the Care Quality Commission and the Court of Protection.
