The Work and Pensions Select Committee announces the second of three oral evidence session for its inquiry into fraud and error in the benefits system.

Topics to be covered

  • Private sector approaches to: fraud and error risk management; establishing appropriate benchmarks; and prosecution of fraud cases;
  • Tackling online fraud and error and harnessing new technologies; and
  • Opportunities for, and barriers to, increased sharing of public and private sector data, to help prevent and detect fraud and error and collect debt.

The final session

One further evidence session has been provisionally scheduled for 4.30pm on Monday 7 April, taking evidence from Lord Freud, DWP Minister for Welfare Reform and Mr David Gauke MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and departmental Minister for HMRC, and officials.
