The future of the BBC World Service

The Foreign Affairs Committee will publish its Report on The future of the BBC World Service at 00.01 am (BST) on Monday 31 March 2014. This will be the Committee’s Ninth Report of Session 2013–14 (HC 1045).

The Report will be made available on the Committee’s website, www.parliament.uk/facom on 31 March and copies may be purchased from the Parliamentary Bookshop (12 Bridge Street, Westminster, London, SW1A 2JX).

Embargoed copies of the Report will be available to witnesses and the media, on request, from 10 am (BST) on Friday 28 March.

This Report, which is being published on the last day on which the Foreign and Commonwealth Office holds responsibility for funding the BBC World Service, summarises the Committee’s views on the transfer of responsibility from the FCO to the BBC. It draws on oral evidence from Peter Horrocks, Director of BBC Global News, James Harding, Director, BBC News and Current Affairs, and Lord Williams of Baglan, International Trustee, BBC Trust.
