Marine Protected Areas: Further call for evidence

In response to the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Update on Marine Conservation Zones (MCZ's) the Environmental Audit Committee calls for further evidence.

Background

The Environmental Audit Committee is conducting an inquiry into Marine Protected Areas, and in particular Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs).  A number of written submissions have already been received by the Committee in response to a call for evidence on Marine Protected Areas, and two sessions of oral evidence have been held. 

On 27 February 2014 the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs published a document (see link below) containing an update on the first tranche of MCZs, an outline of a second tranche and information on sites under further consideration.

Further call for evidence

The Committee now invites submissions on this new development, including further submissions from those who have already given evidence in this inquiry. Responses should be submitted by no later than midday on Friday 21 March.
