The House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee will take oral evidence from two Education Ministers, in its inquiry into Government consultation practice.

Background
The Rt Hon. David Laws, MP, Minister of State for Schools, will give evidence to the Committee on 18 November in relation to consultation on the School Premises (England) Regulations 2012. This was one of the case-studies identified in the call for evidence which the Committee issued in July of this year, when it launched the inquiry.
Lord Nash, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Schools, will respond to questions about the Education (Independent School Standards) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2014. Earlier this year, the Committee received comments on the consultation process related to these Regulations from a number of interested parties. It drew the Regulations to the special attention of the House in its 10th Report of this Session.
