On Tuesday 11 November the House of Lords Digital Skills Committee will turn its attention to careers advice and whether it is effectively preparing the future workforce for the booming growth in digital jobs. The Committee will also ask what changes need to occur within the current system of apprenticeships in order for them to support the rapidly changing work landscape.

At 10.15am

Possible Questions

Questions which the Committee will put to the witnesses are:

  • How can apprenticeships and careers guidance best meet the needs of the future workforce?
  • Does careers advice need a complete re-think?
  • Are there enough tech apprenticeships?
  • How can we support people of all ages through apprenticeships or other training?
  • Should industry play a greater role in careers guidance?
  • Are apprenticeships flexible enough to adapt to changing digital careers?
  • How can more of them be encouraged?
  • How can more girls be encouraged to take computing subjects at school?
