The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee will question Professor Chris Elliott about his final review of the Integrity and Assurance of Food Supply Networks which was published in September 2014.

Witnesses

3.00pm, Tuesday 18 November 2014

The Committee will take evidence from

  • Professor Chris Elliott, School of Biological Sciences, Queen’s University, Belfast, and Director of the Institute for Global Food Safety;
  • Gary Copson, former Commander, Metropolitan Police; and
  • Professor Pat Troop, former Deputy Chief Medical Officer

The Elliott Review was commissioned by the Government after widespread horse meat contamination was discovered in 2013. Among its recommendations, the Review calls for the creation of a new Food Crime Unit to help investigate organised food crime. The evidence session provides an opportunity for the Committee to ask Professor Elliott about his report and the Government’s response to it.

The meeting is expected to take place in a Committee room in the Palace of Westminster. Visitors should check the exact location nearer the time on http://services.parliament.uk/calendar/.  Further information is available on the Committee’s website.
