MPs debate the Medium-Term Financial Plan for the House of Commons and Draft Estimates for 2015-16

On Tuesday 11 November, MPs will take part in a debate on a motion relating to the Medium-Term Financial Plan for the House of Commons and Draft Estimates for 2015-16. This debate was scheduled by the Backbench Business Committee.
This debate will take place following any Ministerial Statements and Urgent Questions and the Report Stage and Third Reading of the National Insurance Contributions Bill).
John Thurso, MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, will open this debate.

Text of the Motion
MPs are to debate the following motion:
"That this House notes the First Report of the Finance and Services Committee, HC 757, and the draft medium-term financial plan for the House of Commons as set out in the Appendix to the Report; and endorses the intention of the Finance and Services Committee to recommend to the House of Commons Commission a House of Commons: Administration Estimate for 2015-16 in line with the financial remit set by the House of Commons Commission."
Backbench Business Committee
The Backbench Business Committee meets weekly on Tuesdays at 1pm to consider requests for debates from any backbench Members of Parliament on any subject, including those raised in e-petitions or national campaigns.
An MP must make a representation before the Committee for an e-petition or petition to be debated; e-petitions exceeding the Government's 100,000 signature threshold are not automatically allocated backbench time.
The Committee then has to decide how to allocate the limited Parliamentary time it has at its disposal. The Committee's meetings are always conducted in public and can be watched on Parliament TV.
