A delegation from the EU Internal Market, Infrastructure and Employment Sub-Committee will travel to Brussels on 4-5 November to discuss its current inquiry on the civil use of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) with EU stakeholders.

Over the course of the two days, the Committee will ask a range of witnesses for their views on the following:

  • Has the EU Commission addressed the possible impediments to a strong RPAS market?
  • Is EU-level regulation of RPAS necessary, or could it be left to Member States to do?
  • Is a lack of regulation to blame for lack of investment by industry?
  • Do large and small RPAS require the same sort of regulations?
  • Are Member State regulators sufficiently resourced to deal with the increased use of RPAS?
