Committees raise questions about tear gas exports to Hong Kong

The Chairman of the Committees on Arms Export Controls, Sir John Stanley, wrote to the Business Secretary, Vince Cable, on 21 October requesting answers to a number of questions relating to the UK export of tear gas and pepper spray to Hong Kong, together with other goods that might be used for internal repression.

The Chairman has requested that the Business Secretary reply to his letter by 30 October when a debate will take place, in Westminster Hall, on the Committees’ latest Report and the Government’s Response to its Conclusions and Recommendations.
