On 10 February 2015, the House of Lords EU Economic and Financial Affairs Sub-Committee is hosting a seminar discussion on the European Commission’s proposals for a Capital Markets Union.

The discussion forms part of the Committee’s short inquiry into the subject, following the 3 February evidence session with Lord Hill of Oareford, European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union.

The seminar will hear contributions from experts and practitioners including:

  • David Doyle, EU Policy Adviser, financial services legislation;
  • Sharon Bowles, former MEP and chair of the European Parliament Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) Committee; and
  • Barnaby Reynolds, Partner, Shearman and Sterling.

A note of the seminar will be published as part of the Committee’s March 2015 report on Capital Markets Union. The report will also take account of the forthcoming Commission Green Paper on Capital Markets Union.
