Committee visit to Swansea and Cardiff

The Welsh Affairs Committee visited Swansea and Cardiff on 4-5 February 2015 as part of its inquiry into Prisons in Wales and the treatment of Welsh offenders.

The Committee visited HMP Swansea to see how Welsh prisons work and how Welsh offenders are rehabilitated. The Committee also met with members of Swansea Youth Offending Service to discuss how they have been reducing youth crime and rehabilitating young offenders.

In Cardiff, the Committee visited the Joe Calzaghe Boxing Academy to see how they are helping young people to engage with education through the medium of boxing, before taking evidence from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (Welsh Language Society) and Comisiynydd y Gymraeg (Welsh Language Commissioner) on the use of Welsh language in prisons
