Treasury Committee publishes letter from Lord Grabiner
24 February 2015
The Treasury Committee has today published a letter from Lord Grabiner following his appearance before the Committee last month.
Commenting on the correspondence, Andrew Tyrie MP, Chairman of the Treasury Committee, said:
Lord Grabiner’s interpretation of the telephone conversation between Mr Mallett and a trader is a crucial part of his report. He had to reach a judgement as to whether or not illegal market activity was discussed, whether the discussion related to the actions of brokers or banks, and whether Mr Mallett understood what he was being told.
“The oral evidence provided to the Committee by Lord Grabiner on these important points was unclear. The letter published today provides some further information on how Lord Grabiner reached his conclusions. The Committee will consider it, and his report, in due course.
