The Work and Pensions Committee published its report Employment and Support Allowance and Work Capability Assessments in July 2014. The Government Response (PDF 292KB) was published in November 2014.
The Committee’s Report recommended a fundamental redesign of the ESA claim process, including the WCA. In the shorter term, it recommended a number of improvements which should be made when the new provider took over the WCA contract to improve the claimant experience and the decision-making process. The report also assessed the reconsideration and appeals process and the interaction between ESA and employment outcomes.
