Standards Committee: Chair nominations close

Nominations for Chair of the Standards Committee closed at 5pm on Wednesday 10 June. Kevin Barron is the sole candidate nominated and will therefore be elected as Chair. The full results of the elections for all committees will be announced on Thursday 18 June.
Kevin Barron said:
"I am pleased to be Chair of the Committee on Standards once again. Last Parliament, the Committee contained three lay members, who were not, and never had been, in Parliament. This Parliament the House has agreed to increase the number of lay members to seven – the same number as there will be of MPs. The lay members made a tremendous contribution in the last Parliament, and I look forward to working with the reformed committee."
