Defence Committee welcomes the Government Response to its Report on Armed Forces Accommodation

The Defence Committee welcomes the Government’s Response to its Report on the Armed Forces Covenant: Accommodation, published today. The Ministry of Defence has been very constructive in its response to the Committee’s conclusions and recommendations.

The Committee recognises that the implementation of many of its recommendations will have to be incorporated into the outcome of the Department’s current work on the New Employment Model and future accommodation plans but welcomes the Department’s positive approach. In particular, the Committee looks forward, in due course, to hearing about the outcome of the current work and improvements to accommodation, in particular single living accommodation. We will return to the subject in six months time to monitor progress.

The Defence Committee will be publishing the Armed Forces covenant in Action? Part2: Accommodation: Government Response to the Committee’s Second Report of Session 2012–13, as its Third Special Report of Session 2012–13, HC 578, at 10.00 am on Tuesday 18 September 2012.

The report will be made available on the Committee’s website, www.parliament.uk/defcom, on Tuesday 18 September 2012 and copies may be purchased from The Houses of Parliament Shop (12 Bridge Street, Westminster, London, SW1A 2JX) on the day of release.
