The Committee on Standards releases its report into the conduct of Karl Turner.

The Report

The Committee is grateful to the Commissioner for her inquiry which arose from two related complaints that Mr Turner failed to declare a relevant interest in relation to five parliamentary questions and four debates on legal matters.

The Committee agreed that Mr Turner was in breach of the Code by not declaring an indirect interest on these occasions. The Committee recommends that Mr Turner makes an apology to the House in the form of a letter to this Committee for his failure to meet the requirements of the rules on declaration.

The lay members of the Committee played a full and active part in the drawing up the Committee's report, with which they are in agreement.

The Commissioner's detailed memorandum and written evidence from Mr Turner is appended to the report. Associated evidence has also been published.
