The Defence Committee hears evidence from a panel of defence analysts and Royal Marines who previously held senior positions in the Corps.

Recent reports have suggested that the Government is considering substantial reductions in the strength of the Royal Marines and that the Royal Navy’s Albion class amphibious assault ships may be at risk. The Committee will examine the potential impact of these proposals, the importance of amphibious capability as a strategic asset, and the possible impact of the changes to operational capacity and effectiveness.
