Diplomatic representatives and academics questioned on Defence in the Arctic

The Defence Sub-Committee hold its first oral evidence session on its inquiry into Defence in the Arctic. The Committee take evidence from the diplomatic representatives from three Arctic nations, and from academics with expertise in Arctic security issues.

Purpose of this session

The purpose of this session is to gain the perspectives of the Arctic nations on the geopolitical and security situation in the Arctic and the High North, examine whether the Arctic has entered a period of militarisation, look at the role of bi-lateral and multi-lateral organisations that are active in the Arctic, and to assess the role of the UK in Arctic security affairs
