The Committee on Standards is publishing a paper produced by three of its lay members on their reflections on their time on the Committee.

Lay members

Sharon Darcy, Peter Jinman and Walter Rader were the first lay members to be appointed to the Committee. They have produced two previous reflections papers, and their third paper is the last in the series as it marks the end of the period of office.

Chair's Comments

Sir Kevin Barron, chair of the Committee said:

"On behalf of the whole Committee, and indeed the House, I should like to thank Sharon, Walter and Peter for the wisdom and fresh ideas they have brought to the work of the Standards Committee.  We welcome the paper we are publishing today on their reflections on the standards system in the House.  We look forward to exploring their analysis and recommendations as we consider our work programme for the future."
