Committee to question Alok Sharma, Secretary of State

Purpose of the session

The Committee will hold an evidence hearing with questions to the Secretary of State on issues across the work of the department, with a focus on the Government’s actions to support businesses and workers during the coronavirus crisis, and the efforts to help firms and staff mitigate the impact of the disruption caused by the coronavirus.

Change of Committee Chair due

Following her recent appointment to the Shadow Cabinet, Rachel Reeves will be stepping down as Chair of the BEIS Committee. Arrangements for the election of a new Chair of the BEIS Committee will be announced by the Speaker in due course. 

In the interim, the BEIS Committee will be chaired by the Committee’s Vice-Chair, Mark Pawsey.
