Purpose of session

The session focuses on the business factors shaping decisions on the referendum and the range of scenarios in the event of the UK voting to leave the European Union.

Chair's comment

BIS Committee chair Iain Wright said:

"Business reasons have been cited on both sides of the EU debate, from the costs and benefits of membership such as complying with regulation, access to skills and labour through the free movement of people, and the effect being in the single market has on attracting Foreign Direct Investment.

The Business Committee will use these two sessions to test the basis of these arguments and help the British public make a better informed decision on 23 June."
