Mr Clive Betts elected as Chair

Mr Clive Betts has been elected as Chair of the Communitiescand Local Government Committee. The secret ballot of all Members of Parliament closed at 5pm on Wednesday 17 June with votes counted under the Alternative Vote system.
The remaining members of the Committee will be nominated by the House in the coming weeks.
Clive Betts said:
"I am very pleased to have become Chair, once more, of the CLG Committee. The Committee did some excellent work in the last Parliament and held the Government to account on a number of important issues. I expect that, once it is elected, the new Committee will continue this. I also look forward to working with the new Ministerial team in the Department and hope that the relationship will be mutually beneficial."
