The Communities and Local Government Committee looks at the funding gap in adult social care services as part of its inquiry into the financial sustainability of adult social care and the quality of care provided.

Purpose of session

The session focusses on adult social care funding, including the factors causing budget pressures, the pros and cons of the council tax precept and the extent of councils' reliance of services on unpaid carers.

The Committee is also expected to examine how the financial situation impacts on local authorities' ability to assess and meet the needs of carers.
