Background
The Homes and Communities Agency is an executive non-departmental public body, responsible for making more homes and business premises available to residents and businesses, and for regulating social housing providers in England. Its former Chair, Robert Napier, left his post in December 2015.
Since 2008, departmental select committees have had a formal role in the appointment process of some designated public posts which fall under the remit of their respective Government departments.
